Can Anybody Walk Me Through The Steps To Hook Up My Sony Hdtv To My Computer?

I want to connect my Sony HDTV to my HP Pavilion. My HP Pavilion doesn’t Have an HDMI port so I have a cable that connects from my computers DVI port to the TVs HDMI. The TV is recognized by the computer and I’ve enabled it as a second monitor, but the TV says there is no input in its HDMI port. Anybody got any suggestions?

  1. You will need to config the monitor settings on your computer by right clicking your desktop and selecting properties and then click display and activate the second display if you cant see the option try clicking on advanced, you just have to tell your pc it has a second monitor, If your tv suports HDMI-VGA use it (alot better quality) but only if you computer video card has the option, and you will need to select a resolution and depending on the size of the TV because it is HD you will need a high one.. you should see the same HD socket next to your VGA cable.
Other ways to conect you pc to your TV:
    Composit/Scart
    S-Video
both are configured the same has the HDMI

  2. make sure its at the right resolution -it will say it on the box and plug it in and restart the computer should be be much else are you running dual monitors or a single because if so you need to set it up as the primary monitor to

  3. If the TV has more than one HDMI port you will need to change AV (audio/visual) on the TV to the right port.
